The House Of Dough is a doughnut shop in Stony Stratford offering freshly baked doughnuts Wednesday to Saturday.
We heard that a doughnut shop was opening in Stony Stratford a few weeks back and were instantly excited about the opening and of course to try some of the creations. It’s awesome to see another independent business on the high street.
About The House Of Dough
Situated in Swinfens Yard in Stony, The House Of Dough is owned and run by Eddy who is extremely dedicated to creating something very special. On opening days, he is up early (2.30am) to prepare, bake and top 240 doughnuts all before the shop opens at 10am.
The address is 8 Swinfens Yard, Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes MK11 1SY and the opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.
How to get a doughnut from The House Of Dough?
A lot of people have been talking about The House Of Dough since it opened its doors which means it is very popular, just check their Instagram page @the_house_of_dough. They have sold out every day, averaging just 2 hours of service until selling out. So, to get my hands on one of their doughnuts it turned into a mini quest, resembling something out of an Indiana Jones movie.
I joined the queue at 10am last Saturday in the hope that I would be able to get my hands on some doughnuts but they were running out fast. The queue was on the High Street and people were getting nervous as they approached the shop front, not knowing they would be successful or not. I was so lucky to get just the one. I was actually faced with two remaining doughnuts but instead of taking both I had to offer the last one to the lady behind me.
Our second attempt on Friday was a success though. I knew I had to be early, nothing was going to stop me. I grabbed a takeout coffee from Bean In Stony and then got into the queue at half 9 with only a couple of people in front of me. I had made it.
We would recommend getting in the queue at 9.45am on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and then 9.30am on a Saturday. And remember to grab a coffee to keep you warm! Also, if you are taking them home, make sure you treat them like a VIP, like we did in the photo below.
What are the flavours at The House Of Dough?

The verdict on The House Of Dough
We were blown away by every aspect of this small independent business. The doughnuts are amazing. They are big, look amazing and are so tasty. There is a good range on offer with some classics and also some quirky offerings like the Keith Lemon and the Millionaire. I’ve not tried all of them (yet!), but my favourite so far is God Bless America. It’s topped with peanut butter (my absolute favourite) and centre filled with jam – it’s incredible.
The customer service is spot on. The owner is friendly and you can see he takes pride in providing a great service as well as creating amazing doughnuts. We will definitely be heading back soon to try more. I’ve got my eye on the Peanut Buttercup for next time.
We hope you enjoy them as much as we did and don’t forget to get there early to avoid disappointment. Be sure to tag #independentmk when posting photos about your visit or about any other independent businesses you have tried.
